Stephen Charles Langston was born at St. Johns, Margate, Kent and giving his trade as a Labourer attested at Margate on 12th September 1901, he would subsequently see service in South Africa during the Boer War with 3rd Battalion, East Kent Regiment – the Buffs earning entitlement to the Queen’s South Africa Medal without a clasp.
