Private (No. 2684) F. Hollingworth, 23rd (Duke of Lancaster’s) Company, 8th Battalion, Imperial Yeomanry saw service in South Africa during the Boer War where he would take part in the operations in Cape Colony and Orange Free State before being discharged at his own request on 20th June 1901.
The Transvaal clasp is not shown on the Medal Rolls, but the medal is mounted as it would have been worn. The South Africa 1902 clasp is a tailor’s copy, which he would not be entitled to having been discharged on 20th June 1901.
