Percy George Lancaster was born in Sloane Square, London and attested at Canterbury on 9th May 1900 and would see service in South Africa from 31st August 1901 until 27th August 1902 with the 2nd Battalion, East Kent Regiment – the Buffs taking part in the Boer War on operations in Cape Colony, Orange Free State and Transvaal.
He would return to the UK on 28th October 1902 and purchased his own discharge on 7th February 1903.
