Queen’s South Africa Medal 1899-1902, 4 Clasps: Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal, South Africa 1902 awarded to Private J. Mannering, 2nd Battalion, East Kent Regiment who saw service in South Africa during the Boer War on operations in Cape Colony, Orange Free State and Transvaal, and later with 1st Battalion, East Kent Regiment on the Western Front during the Great War from 7th September 1914. He died of wounds on 28th June 1915 and is buried in Swanscombe Cemetery.

James Vincent Mannering saw service as a Private (No. 6519) with the 2nd Battalion, East Kent Regiment in South Africa during the Boer War on operations in Cape Colony, Orange Free State and Transvaal, he would later travel to India with 1st Battalion, East Kent Regiment.
He would later serve on the Western Front from 7th September 1914 with 1st Battalion, East Kent Regiment. He died of wounds on 28th June 1915 whilst serving with 1st Battalion, East Kent Regiment. The son of William and Emily Mannering of 38 Sun Road, Swanscombe, he is buried in Swanscombe Cemetery.
