Frank Cooper was born at Cliddesden, near Winchester, Hampshire and attested at Basingstoke on 15th October 1900, he would pass a Mounted Infantry course on 31st January 1901 and would subsequently travel to South Africa where he served between 25th April 1902 and 28th September 1902.
Taking part in the Boer War he would see action during the operations in Cape Colony, Orange Free State and Transvaal.
Cooper would subsequently serve in Malta, Bermuda and once more in South Africa before being discharged on 14th October 1912 after 12 years service.
