Ethelbert William Price was born in Canterbury, Kent and giving his trade as Baker attested at Canterbury on 8th January 1901.
Serving with 2nd Battalion, East Kent Regiment – the Buffs he would travel to South Africa on 2nd May 1902 where he would see action during the Boer War taking part in operations in Cape Colony, Orange Free State and Transvaal. He would return home on 28th October 1902, but later see service in India from 10th March 1903 until 13th October 1903 and then in Aden from 14th October 1903 until 8th December 1904. Returning to the UK on 9th December 1904 he would be discharged on 25th August 1906.
