Lawrence Charles Price was born in Eastchurch, near Sheerness, Kent. Having enlisted on 6th February 1901, he would travel to South Africa on 16th March 1901 where he would serve during the Boer War as a Private (No. 6990) with the 2nd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment, being present in operations in Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal. He would return home from South Africa on 17th June 1901 and would be discharged on 3rd December 1901.
