Edgar Charles Watson was born in Chiswick, London and attested at Norwich on 13th January 1900 and would see service as a Private (No. 5400) with the 3rd Volunteer Battalion, Norfolk Regiment in South Africa during the Boer War where he would take part in the operations in Cape Colony and Orange Free State as well as in the action at Johannesburg.
