Edwards, 2nd Battalion, Devonshire Regiment – Mounted Infantry saw service in South Africa during the Boer War where he would take part in the operations in Cape Colony as well as in the actions at Driefontein on 10th March 1900, at Johannesburg on 31st May 1900, and at Diamond Hill on 11th to 12th June 1900. He would later return to the UK on 2nd September 1902.
