Private (No. 6171) R. Kent saw service with the West Riding Regiment in South Africa during the Boer War where he would take part in the operations in Cape Colony and later earn entitlement to a King’s South Africa Medal with clasps South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902.
Note: Both the Wittebergen and Belfast clasps are unconfirmed on the roll, but this medal has twice been sold by Noonans as a 3 clasp medal, as lot 170 on 30th June 1998 where it is noted as ex-Lovell collection, and then as lot 135 on 22nd June 1999.
