H. Karl. A. Landsberger saw service as Private (No. 1294) with the 13th Volunteer Battalion, Middlesex (Westminster) City of London Imperial Volunteers in South Africa during the Boer War on operations in the Cape Colony and in action at Paardeberg and Driefontein.
The son of Hugo Landsberger, a Prussian who owned Ivory and General Merchants of Bevis Marks in the city of London under the form of Hugo Landsberger & Co, he would take over the business on the retirement of his father on 26th November 1920.
