Queen’s South Africa Medal 1899-1902, 2 Clasps: Cape Colony, Orange Free State awarded to Corporal T. Crookham, 5th Battalion, South Lancashire Regiment – Prince of Wales’s Volunteers during the Boer War where he would take part in the operations in Cape Colony and Orange Free State. He would later serve with the 3rd Battalion, South Lancashire Regiment and the Royal Garrison Artillery during the Great War seeing action on the Western Front from 5th December 1914.

Thomas Cookham was born near Liverpool and was a French Polisher by trade, he would see service with the 5th Battalion, South Lancashire Regiment – Prince of Wales’s Volunteers, during the Boer War where he would take part in the operations in Cape Colony and Orange Free State. He would also later see service during the Great War.
Initially serving with the 3rd Battalion, South Lancashire Regiment as a Private (No. 2123) he would see service on the Western Front from 5th December 1914 onwards transferring to the Royal Garrison Artillery with whom he would serve as a Gunner (No. 224999).
