Paymaster Sub Lieutenant’s Royal Naval Reserve Decoration pair awarded to Paymaster Sub Lieutenant W. Povey, Royal Naval Reserve who saw war time service from 27th November 1915 until he was demobilised on 15th September 1919.

Walter Povey was born on 30th September 1891 and saw war service as a Temporary Paymaster Sub Lieutenant from 27th November 1915, and initially served aboard the Topaz Class Cruiser H.M.S. Diamond where he was the understudy to Clerk Phillips until 16th November 1917. He then served board H.M.S. Dreadnought until 7th August 1918, he subsequently served aboard H.M.S. Lord Nelson from September 1918 until April 1919. After a short period in the Black Sea in April and May 1919, he returned to the UK where he was demobilised on 15th September 1919.
