Yeats, Royal Scots Greys who saw service in Palestine during the Arab Rebellion, and would later go on to see service during the Second World War in North Africa, Italy and North West Europe with the unit being involved in the Battle of El Algheila and the subsequent pursuit of the Afrika Korps across North Africa, during the Salerno landings in Italy and then subsequently in North West Europe including the hard fought action at Hill 112 near Caen, Normandy, Operation Market Garden and the Crossing of the Rhine
