Palestine Arab Rebellion, Second World War Burma and North West Europe, Coronation 1953 and long service group awarded to Flight Lieutenant E.E. Gibson, Royal Air Force, who as a Corporal saw service in Palestine, and during the Second World War, after service in Burma, was commissioned into the Administrative and Special Duties Branch in January 1944, going on to see service in North West Europe, He later took up a permanent commission, having transferred into the Equipment Branch in October 1946, and was serving with No.42 Group Maintenance Command when he was awarded the Coronation Medal 1953.

Ernest Edward Gibson saw service as a Corporal (No.513402) with the Royal Air Force in Palestine during the Arab Rebellion, and then continued on into the Second World War, and having seen service in Burma, was then serving as a Flight Sergeant when he was commissioned into the Administrative and Special Duties Branch on 8th January 1944 as a Pilot Officer (No.53893) with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.

Promoted to Flying Officer on 8th July 1944, he went on to see service during the campaign in North West Europe, and then saw service post war, being transferred to the Equipment Branch on 29th October 1946, and having transferred into the Royal Air Force with a permanent commission as a Flying Officer as notified in the London Gazette of 28th January 1947, with seniority back dated to 14th November 1944.

Gibson who was awarded the Royal Air Force Long Service and Good Conduct Medal whilst an Acting Light Lieutenant, was then promoted to Flight Lieutenant on 10th August 1948, and was awarded the Coronation Medal 1953 whilst serving with No.42 Group Maintenance Command. He relinquished his commission in the rank of Flight Lieutenant on 3rd February 1958.
