Palestine Arab Rebellion and Second World War North Africa Battle of Sidi Barrani Casualty group awarded to Private W.A. Lea, 1st Battalion, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, who was the adopted son of a Leicester family, and was present out in Palestine during the Arab Rebellion, and with the Second World War, was then out in the Middle East and North Africa, and was killed in action during the Battle of Sidi Barrani on 10th December 1940.

William Alfred Lea saw service as a Private (No.2041226) with the 1st Battalion, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, and was present out in Palestine during the Arab Rebellion, and with the Second World War the saw service out in the Middle East and North Africa, and was killed in action during the Battle of Sidi Barrani on 10th December 1940. Having no known grave, he is commemorated by name on the Alamein Memorial. Aged 21 at the time of his death, he was the adopted son of John R. and Eva Ann Spriggs, of Leicester.
