Pakistan: An early post-independence Karachi Race Club Officials / Membership Badge for 1952-1953, copper and enamels, the obverse enamelled, and also bearing the badge holder’s number ‘577’, this number also impressed on the reverse. This badge, which measures approximately 30 mm across, bearing the embossed makers marks for W.O. Lewis Badges Ltd of Birmingham. Complete with its original hanging cord.
Condition: enamel work with slight loss to bottom left corner, otherwise light wear, overall about Very Fine.
When Pakistan came in to being in 1947 there were only 2 race courses in Pakistan the Karachi Race Club and the Lahore Race Club. The Karachi Race Club was established in 1913 and racing continued at the old site of behind the Cantt Railway Station until 1987.
