Officer’s Great War Memorial Plaque awarded to 2nd Lieutenant Hubert Clarence Toye, 2nd Battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment who had been commissioned on 19th December 1914 and died of wounds on 15th October 1915 being buried in Lapugnoy Military Cemetery.

Hubert Clarence Toye was commissioned on 19th December 1914 after 7 years and 248 days in the ranks and saw service as a 2nd Lieutenant with the 2nd Battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment, he died of wounds on 15th October 1915 and is buried in Lapugnoy Military Cemetery. He left £88 2s 11d to Frederick Toye a silk weaver in his will.
