Military Medal recipient’s German Spring Offensive casualty 1914-1915 Star awarded to Private L.H. Stratton, 11th Battalion, later 10th Battalion, Essex Regiment who saw service on the Western Front from 30th August 1915 and would be awarded the Military Medal in the London Gazette of 4th February 1918, later being killed in action on 21st March 1918 – the first day of the German Spring Offensive. Having no known grave he is now remembered on the Pozieres Memorial.

Leslie Hubert Stratton was born in Newbury, Berkshire and resided in Ecohinswell, Hampshire before enlisted at Stepney, Middlesex, initially seeing service with the 11th Battalion, Essex Regiment initially seeing service on the Western Front from 30th August 1915. He would later transfer to the 10th Battalion, Essex Regiment and would be awarded the Military Medal in the London Gazette of 4th February 1918 and would later be killed in action on 21st March 1918 – the first day of the German Spring Offensive. Having no known grave he is now remembered on the Pozieres Memorial
