Miller saw service as a Driver and later Corporal (No. 71790) with the Royal Field Artillery on the Western Front from 27th September 1915 and was awarded the Military Medal in the London Gazette of 24th January 1919 whilst serving with the 25th Divisional Ammunition Column, Royal Field Artillery.
