King’s South Africa Medal 1901-1902, 2 Clasps: South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902 awarded to Private W. Clarke, Oxfordshire Light Infantry who would first see service during the Punjab Frontier operations which lasted from 10th June 1897 to 6th April 1898 as well as the operations with the Tirah Field Force. He would later serve during the Boer War on operations in Cape Colony and Orange Free State as well as in the action at Johannesburg.

William Clarke was born near Oxford and attested on 14th July 1890, and served at home until 3rd October 1892 when he travelled to India. He would see service during the Punjab Frontier operations which lasted from 10th June 1897 to 6th April 1898 as well as the operations with the Tirah Field Force. He would leave India and travel home on 28th March 1898. Remaining at home, he would travel to South Africa on 22nd December 1899 and would take part in the Boer War participating in operations in Cape Colony and Orange Free State as well as in the action at Johannesburg.
Clarke would return home on 12th February 1902 and then be released on 13th July 1902.
