Khedive’s Sudan Medal 1896-1908, 1 Clasp: Khartoum awarded to Private J. Avery, 1st Battalion, Cameron Highlanders who saw service in the Nile Expedition of 1898 including at the Battle of Khartoum on 2nd September 1898. He would later also be present in South Africa during the Boer War where he would participate in operations in Cape Colony as well as in the actions at Diamond Hill and Wittebergen.
