Khedive’s Star, dated 1882, the reverse engraved to Serjeant J. Garland, 1st Battalion, South Staffordshire Regiment who was present in Egypt and took part in the Battle of Tel-El-Kebir.

James Garland was born at Towcester, Northampton and attested at Bristol on 13th June 1879 and served at home until 27th February 1881, when he travelled to South Africa on 20th October 1881 before travelling to Malta on 22nd February 1882, and then Egypt on 18th July 1882.
He would return home on 22nd October 1882 until 16th January 1883, he would travel to Cyprus on 1st September 1884 and would remain there until on 9th March 1884 when he travelled to Egypt once more. Returning home on 19th Septemebr 1885 he would serve until his discharge on 17th June 1891.
Garland was entitled to an Egypt Medal 1882 with clasp Tel-El-Kebir.
