Italy Al Valore Di Marine – Navy Medal of Valour, in bronze, of some age, a good example of type.
Condition: notable scratch to reverse, otherwise Good Very Fine
The Medal of Naval Valor was established by the Kingdom of Sardinia in 1836; together with the Medal of Military Valor , created with a royal decree of 26 March 1833, and the Medal of Civil Valor , established by the royal decree of 30 April 1851 , it was intended to reward those citizens who demonstrated valor and self-denial.
Despite various regulatory reforms, the decoration has always remained in existence, both after the unification of the Kingdom of Italy and after the birth of the Italian Republic, and still exists today, among the medals of valor for armed forces regulated in 2010.
