Iraq – Kingdom: Commemorative Medal of the Coronation of King Faisal II in 1953, in silver.
Condition: Very Fine
The medal was produced both by the Royal Mint in London and by Huguenin Frères of Le Locle, Switzerland with small variations. King Faisal II (1935-1958) was the last king of Iraq, reigning from 1939 until his death in a coup d’état in 1958. He was less than four years old when his father died in 1939 and his father’s cousin, Crown Prince Abd al-Ilāh, ruled as Regent until Faisal’s coming of age in 1953.
