Awarded to one of two men who served with the 34th (Cumberland) Regiment of Foot during the Indian Munity, the first, Private (4344) Edward Smith is noted as having been discharged on 2nd September 1858, the second Private (No. 4359) Edward Smith was killed in action on 28th November 1857.
