William Waring saw service as a Private (No. 2479) with the 84th (York and Lancaster) Regiment of Foot in India during the Indian Mutiny where he would take part in the operations around Lucknow which lasted from November 1857 until March 1858 being noted as having served with the Commander in Chief’s Force. He would later be discharged.
