Indian Mutiny Medal 1857-1859, 1 Clasp: Central India awarded to Private J. Duell, 95th (Derbyshire) Regiment of Foot who saw service in India during the Indian Mutiny including during the operations in Central India. He had earlier seen service during the Crimean War.

James Duell was born in Eling, near Southampton, Hampshire and having attested at Southampton in 1851 would see service as a Private (No. 2651) with the 95th (Derbyshire) Regiment of Foot in the Crimea and later in India during the Indian Mutiny where he took part in the operations in Central India.
Appearing twenty-eight times in the Regimental Defaulters book over a period of 21 years he would be discharged at Aldershot on 14th September 1872.
