India Relief of Chitral and Boer War Paardeberg, Driefontein and Wittebergen group awarded to Private J. Lisk, 2nd Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders who would participate in the operations leading to the relief of Chitral which lasted from 7th March to 15th August 1895 and later in the Boer War where he took part in operations in Cape Colony, Transvaal as well as in the actions at Paardeberg on 17th to 26th February 1900, at Driefontein on 10th March 1900 and at Wittebergen between 1st and 29th July 1900.

John Lisk was born in Armagh and enlisted on 20th September 1890 seeing service as a Private (No. 3416) with the 2nd Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders. Initially serving at home he would travel to India on 22nd February 1892 where he would remain until 19th March 1897 he would participate in the operations leading to the relief of Chitral which lasted from 7th March to 15th August 1895.
He would leave India on 18th March 1897 and return home, where he stayed until on 20th October 1899 he travelled to South Africa. Once in South Africa he would take part in operations in Cape Colony, Transvaal as well as in the actions at Paardeberg on 17th to 26th February 1900, at Driefontein on 10th March 1900 and at Wittebergen between 1st and 29th July 1900.
Lisk would return home on 3rd September 1902 and would be discharged on 19th September 1902.
