Tuckwood, 15th/19th The King’s Royal Hussars, who was present out on the North West Frontier of India during the Red Shirt Rebellion in the period from 23rd April 1930 to 22nd March 1931, and later saw service during the Second World War with both the Royal Armoured Corps and the Royal Army Ordnance Corps.

Leonard Frederick Tuckwood was born on 16th May 1908 in Staunton, near Newark, Nottinghamshire, and having worked as a farm hand, then enlisted into the British Army at Nottingham on 7th January 1928 joining as a Trooper (No.401856) the 15th/19th The King’s Royal Hussars, who was present out on the North West Frontier of India during the Red Shirt Rebellion in the period from 23rd April 1930 to 22nd March 1931. Tuckwood was transferred to the Army Reserve on 6th August 1934, but with the outbreak of the Second World War, then saw service with the Royal Armoured Corps before transferring to the Royal Army Ordnance Corps in November 1944.
