Edward Ernest Goodban was born in Trinity, Ramsgate, Kent, and having worked as a shop assistant, then enlisted into the British Army at Canterbury on 2nd January 1926 as a Trooper (No.545496) with the 7th Hussars before transferring to the 5th/19th The King’s Royal Hussars on 12th November 1926. Goodban was present out on the North West Frontier of India during the Red Shirt Rebellion in the period from 23rd April 1930 to 22nd March 1931, and transferred to the Army Reserve on 10th March 1932. Goodban probably saw service during the Second World War.
