Stewart, 1st Battalion, East Kent Regiment – the Buffs being present on the frontier during the operations leading to the relief of Chitral which lasted from 7th March to 15th August 1895. He subsequently saw service during the operations on the Punjab Frontier which lasted from 10th June 1897 to 6th April 1898.

George Charles Stewart was born in Chertsey and attested on 14th August 1890 and was posted to 2nd Battalion, East Kent Regiment – the Buffs on 1st January 1891 before being transferred to 1st Battalion, East Kent Regiment – the Buffs on 11th December 1891 with whom he travelled to India subsequently being present on the frontier during the operations leading to the relief of Chitral which lasted from 7th March to 15th August 1895. He subsequently saw service during the operations on the Punjab Frontier which lasted from 10th June 1897 to 6th April 1898.
On 21st June 1898 he was transferred to the Army Reserve with permission to remain in India, and then would be discharged on 13th October 1902 with permission to reside in India.
