Johnson, 1st Battalion, East Kent Regiment – the Buffs who saw service as part of the Chitral Relief Force in 1895 and on operations on the Punjab Frontier which lasted from 10th June 1897 until 6th April 1898. Awarded a Long Service and Good Conduct Medal in 1908 he would also see service in Persia with 4th Battalion, East Kent Regiment – the Buffs during the Great War.

Percy William Johnson was born in Bow, London and giving his trade as a butcher attested into the 1st Battalion, East Kent Regiment – the Buffs on 29th December 1888 and having initially remained in the UK, travelled to India on 2nd March 1892 where he would later serve as part of the Chitral Relief Force in 1895 and on operations on the Punjab Frontier which lasted from 10th June 1897 to 6th April 1898.
He would later receive a Long Service and Good Conduct Medal in Army Order of October 1908.
Percy Johnson would serve as a Regimental Quarter Master Sergeant (No. L/2756) with the 4th Battalion, East Kent Regiment – the Buffs during the Great War serving in Persia from 5th August 1915.
