James Halliday enlisted into the King’s Own Scottish Borderers on 8th December 1893 initially serving at home until he travelled to India on 5th December 1894 where he would later see service with the 2nd Battalion, King’s Own Scottish Borderers during the Punjab Frontier operations which lasted from 10th June 1897 to 6th April 1898 as well as the operations with the Tirah Field Force. He would return to the UK on 30th November 1903 and was later discharged on 10th November 1904.
