William James Beezley was born at Shoreditch, London and giving his trade as a Labourer attested at London on 10th August 1883. Initially seeing service at home in the UK he would travel to Malta on 30th January 1885 remaining there until 12th September 1885 when he travelled to the Straits Settlements where he remained until 10th March 1887.
Subsequently travelling to India on 11th March 1887 he would then later take part in the operations leading to the relief of Chitral which lasted from 7th March to 15th August 1895. He would remain in India until 29th April 1896 when he returned to the UK, being discharged the following day.
