Grainger, 1st Battalion, East Kent Regiment who participated in the operations leading to the Relief of Chitral which lasted from 7th March to 15th August 1895 and later served in South Africa during the Boer War at Paardeberg and during the Relief of Kimberley.

Arthur Grainger saw service as a Corporal (No. 2454) with the 1st Battalion, East Kent Regiment – the Buffs with whom he would participate in the operations leading to the relief of Chitral which lasted from 7th March to 15th August 1895.
Grainger would later see service during the Boer War and is entitled to a Queen’s South Africa Medal 1899-1902, 2 clasps: Paardeberg and Relief of Kimberley, being sent home for discharge on 6th December 1900.
