India General Service Medal 1854-1895, 1 Clasp: Burma 1887-89 awarded to Lieutenant, later Lieutenant Colonel G.C. Cawood, 7th Bengal Cavalry who having graduated from the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, was commissioned into the 1st Battalion, Royal Welsh Fusiliers, before transferring initially to the Indian Staff Corps and then having been appointed a Captain with the 7th Bengal Cavalry saw service in the clear up operations in the aftermath of the Third Burmese War in the period 1887 to 1889, his final appointment being as Lieutenant Colonel and Second in Command of the 7th Bengal Cavalry.

George Crane Cawood was born on 1st March 1861 and graduated from the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst and initially was posted as a 2nd Lieutenant with the Royal Welsh Fusiliers on 11th August 1880, and then promoted to Lieutenant with 1st Battalion, Royal Welsh Fusiliers at Chuckrate, Bengal on 1st July 1881. He would transfer to the Indian Staff Corps on 17th March 1885 and then as a Squadron Officer, 7th Bengal Cavalry on 10th August 1886. He would then see service out in Burma during the clear up operations in the aftermath of the Third Burmese War in the period 1887 to 1889.
He would then be appointed Captain and Squadron Officer, 7th Bengal Cavalry on 11th August 1891 and Major and Squadron Commander on 11th August 1900, his final appointment was as Lieutenant Colonel, Second in Command of the 7th Bengal Cavalry on 11th August 1906.
