Edwin Lawler Sugden was born in Bradford and enlisted there before seeing service as a Private (No. 20/201) with the 11th Battalion, Prince of Wales’s Own (West Yorkshire Regiment). He died of wounds on 8th June 1917 and is now buried in Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery.
