William Hobson was born in Bedlington, Northumberland and enlisted at Newcastle-upon-Tyne and later saw service as a Private (No. 53430) with the 15/17th Battalion, West Yorkshire Regiment. He would be killed in action on 28th June 1918 and is now buried in Cinq Rues British Cemetery, Hazebrouck. He is noted as the son of James and Sussanah Hobson of Bedlington, Northumberland.
