Great War Western Front Military Medal and 1914-1915 Star pair awarded to Boer War veteran Corporal B.J. Beckett, 31st Army Troops Labour Battalion, Royal Engineers who saw service on the Western Front from 13th December 1914, being awarded the Military Medal in the London Gazette of 3rd June 1916.

Benjamin J. Beckett first saw service during the Boer War where he would serve as a Sapper (No. 2323) with the 7th Field Company, Royal Engineers and earn entitlement to a Queen’s South Africa Medal with clasps for Belfast, Modder River, Paardeberg, Driefontein and Johannesburg as well as a King’s South Africa Medal with clasps for South Africa 1901 and South Africa 1902.
Later serving during the Great War he would be present on the Western Front from 13th December 1914. Awarded the Military Medal in the London Gazette of 3rd June 1916 whilst serving as a Corporal (No. 2323) with the 31st Army Troops Labour Battalion, Royal Engineers, he would also later be awarded a Long Service and Good Conduct Medal on 1st April 1917.
