Walter Sugden was born in Salford, Lancashire and enlisted in Liverpool before he saw service as a Private (No. 23483) with the King’s Liverpool Regiment on the Western Front from 25th July 1915. He would later transfer to the Cheshire Regiment with whom he would see service as a Private (No. 242717) with the 23rd Battalion, Cheshire Regiment and with whom he would be killed in action on 31st October 1918, he is now buried in St. Leger Churchyard, Belgium.
