Alfred Lambert was born in Islington and having enlisted saw service as a Private (No. L-15620) with the 1st Battalion, Royal Fusiliers on the Western Front from 7th September 1914 and would be killed in action on 16th February 1915 according to Soldier’s Died in the Great War, but the Commonwealth War Graves Commission lists him as having died on 13th February 1915 and states that he is now buried in La Chapelle D’Armentieres Communal Cemetery.
