John Glynne Barnett was born in Leighton Buzzard and initially saw service as a Private (No. 77069) with the Durham Light Infantry and was listed as wounded in the War Office Daily List on 29th November 1917, and later saw service as a Corporal (No. 522625) with the 488th Field Company, Royal Engineers.
Barnett would later see service as a Special Constable with the United Kingdom Special Constabulary.
