From Feltham, Middlesex, he saw service out at the front with the 11th Cyclist Battalion under the 11th Corps, and also with the divisional cyclists operating with the 52nd Lowland Division.

Cecil Alfred Prowting was born on 16 June 1893 in Feltham, Middlesex, and as of 1911 was working as a grocer’s assistant in Feltham. During the Great War he saw service as a Private (No.10729) with the Army Cyclist Corps, and was present out on the Western Front with the 11th Cyclist Battalion under the 11th Corps, and also with the divisional cyclists operating with the 52nd Lowland Division. During the Second World War he saw service in Civil Defence, and was still living in Feltham when he claimed his Defence Medal. Prowting was latterly living in Hounslow when he died in October 1978.
