Great War Western Front 1914-1915 Star trio awarded to Second Lieutenant, later Captain J.W. Hosack, Royal Field Artillery who initially saw service in South Africa with the Natal Light Horse before arriving on the Western Front on 7th April 1915. He would later serve with the 32nd Lancers and would take part in the campaigns in Northern Persia, Iraq and Kurdistan after the war.

James Wallace Hosack saw service with the Natal Light Horse as a Trooper in South Africa from 9th September 1914, and subsequently as a Second Lieutenant, later Captain with the Royal Field Artillery on the Western Front from 7th February 1915.
He would continue to serve after the Great War with the 32nd Lancers and would see service in the campaigns in Mesopotamia, including N. Persia, Iraq and Kurdistan being awarded a 3 bar General Service Medal. Suffering from Pulmonary Tuberculosis he would spend time in a sanatorium in Switzerland before dying aged just 34 on 22nd April 1926 at the Cotswold Sanatorium, Cranham, Gloucestershire.
