Great War Western Front 1914-1915 Star trio awarded to Corporal C. Bowers, 1st Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment who had seen service during the Boer War as a Lieutenant with the 1st Volunteer Company, 2nd Battalion, Middlesex Regiment on operations in Orange Free State and Transvaal as well as the action at Laing's Nek. He later saw service on the Western Front from 15th May 1915 until 18th September 1916 when he suffered a gunshot wound to the right knee leading to him being evacuated to England before being discharged entitled to a Silver War Badge on 19th May 1917.

Charles D'Obree Arbuthnot Cockburn Bowers was appointed a Second Lieutenant in the 2nd Volunteer Battalion, the Duke of Cambridge's Own (Middlesex Regiment) on 16th December 1896 and having been promoted Lieutenant would serve with No.1 Volunteer Company, 2nd Battalion, Middlesex Regiment during the Boer on operations in Orange Free State and Transvaal as well as in the action at Laing's Nek.
He re-joined at Maidstone on 18th February 1915 serving with the 1st Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment on the Western Front from 15th May 1915 until 18th September 1916 when he was wounded, suffering a gun shot wound to the right knee, before being discharged on 19th May 1917.
Bowers died in Deal in 1952 leaving an estate of £1322 4s 7d
