Harry B Symonds saw service as a Private (No. 8053) and later as a Staff-Sergeant with the Army Ordnance Corps on the Western Front from 12th December 1914, he was awarded a Meritorious Service Medal in the London Gazette of 17th June 1918 as a Mechanical Staff Sergeant for services in France, before later being discharged to Class ‘Z’ Reserve on 18th May 1919.
