Montague, 2nd Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders who saw service on the Western Front from 21st July 1915 and would be killed in action on 4th October 1917. Having no known grave he is now remembered on the Tyne Cot Memorial.

James Montague was born in Penicuik, Midlothian and enlisted at Glencourse, Midlothian before seeing service as a Private, later Corporal (No S/7716) with the 2nd Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders on the Western Front from 21st July 1915. He would be killed in action on 4th October 1917 during the Third Battle of Ypres (Passchendaele) and having no known grave is now remembered on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
The 2nd Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders at this time were involved in partially successful attempts to capture the Passchendaele Ridge.
