Having no known grave he is remembered on the Tyne Cot Memorial.

Ernest Heyes also Hayes was born at All Saints, Manchester and enlisted at Broughton, Manchester then seeing service as a Private (No. 1838) with the 1st/8th Battalion, Lancashire Fusiliers at Gallipoli on 5th May 1915 and would later see service on the Western Front with 1/6th Battalion, Lancashire Fusiliers being killed in action on 6th September 1917. Having no known grave he is remembered on the Tyne Cot Memorial and is noted as the son of Mrs. Mary Jane Hayes of 94 Langworthy Road, Lightbourne Road, Moston.
