Great War period privately produced identity disc, this fashioned from an old copper coin and then drilled to hang from a chain, with details stamped which confirm this was worn by Private J.C. Blatchley, 2nd Battalion, Norfolk Regiment, who was one of those men who reconstituted his battalion in the aftermath of it having been captured at Kut-al-Amara in Mesopotamia on 29th April 1915. He would have joined the battalion circa February 1917 when it then saw service in Mesopotamia as part of the 37th Brigade in the 14th Indian Division.

Condition: Good Condition.
Jack Cornwell Blatchley saw service as a Private (No.22331) with the 2nd Battalion, Norfolk Regiment, and would have seen service out on in Mesopotamia. On 29th April 1916 his battalion was captured after being besieged at Kut-al-Amara, but Blatchley would appear to have been a replacement after the battalion was reconstituted in the aftermath of this disaster, and as such he would have gone on to see further service in Mesopotamia from February 1917 as part of the 37th Brigade in the 14th Indian Division. Confirmed as entitled to the British War Medal and Victory Medal.
